Springpad: tried hard Pinterest and Evernote wannabe

This is a text only entry because I don't want to even give this app image publicity.  But instead I would throw in some pictures of Pinterest and Evernote to show my love for these two EXCELLENT apps.  One would wish someone would marry these two, pls don't, they were meant for different purposes.

fast becoming the 'Apple' of note taking
I was actually pretty pleased with the web interface at the start, the UI is a lot better than Evernote for note taking purpose.  But then when I start to use it like I used Pinterest the glitches starts to happen.  Pinterest would actually tries to analyse the web page and extract the image and let you choose which one you want to post, lazy springpad just take a screenshot (unless you use photo note). And even if you use photo note, it doesn't work all the time, when it does, it took ages.

fast, reliable
So I gave up on it for a while, then because of my little project I need a clear visual UI to kickstart, so I go back again, then some more problems hit me:

  • Tag sorting doesn't work with all springs,
  • tags reappearing when scrolling down,
  • a lot of springs still labeled as untag even though they were tagged
  • sequence of the sort is wrong from time to time (like 2/10 times)

But I was brainstorming at that stage so I didn't really mind that and just sent a question to the help page, no responses. but then I did see someone from Spingpad admitting that the tag function isn't their best feature.

Sorting it right, is that too much to ask?

but anyway, I need to work on my project, so I downloaded the Android version of the app in last October 2013 (ie a few days ago).  I stupidly think the the app could just take photo notes like Evernote does... Springpad did, but did something VERY stupid: they gave me a very low resolution (something like 640x480) of the photo, and I was taking photo of hand written notes....

Other small glitches include the unlocking screen is only a small dialog box and the notes could be seen 'behind' the box.

THIS, is a proper unlock screen.
The last straw, was that widget.  With writing projects you know how an idea hits you and you'd just ahve to jot it down NOW.  Widgets camera and add notes shortcut takes you back to homescreen instead of letting you take the photo or notes immediately...

one touch, take photo, done.
So what I did, is I downloaded all the data, removed the springpad app from my mobile, removed it from chrome, and I deleted the account.

nice, clean interface, no glitches
One thing that I laughed at: they ripped off a kitten's picture and said on the confirm delete box "I don't care about the kitten and I drink kitten tears".
Such a cheapshot, Springpad, you suck to the very last moment.
